Hi Audrey,
I work with my clients for a long time. Most of the time it's 2-3 years, but more and more often I'm being asked to spend longer periods of time with my clients. My longest tenured client has now been working with me for over 8 years.
So what do we talk about after spending so many years together? Haven't we "fixed" everything that there is to fix? Haven't we achieved some level of success that they previously thought was impossible. Well yes, of course we have. But here's the thing....
Once you've achieved a certain level of success life gets a little boring.
Once all of the fires are put out, the systems created, the team reinvigorated, the big goals achieved, it's easy to get a bit complacent. And while some may see this as THE GOAL - To become so successful that everything is "easy" - what most people find is that after they've achieved everything they've always imagined that life settles into an uncomfortable battle between contentment and purpose. So what to do about that?
Level up.
I'm not talking about improving a few things, or fine tuning your systems and processes to be more efficient. I'm talking about very specifically seeking the NEXT LEVEL of success. The thing that "those" people are doing, but you think is beyond your grasp.
- You grew your business to $1MM in two years? Great. What about taking it to $10MM in the next two years?
- The team is doing pretty good and putting out excellent work? Awesome. What about firing your bottom 3 performers and hiring 3 more like your top 3?
- You've got 25% market share in your industry? How about seeking ANOTHER market and trying to dominate there?
- You have one successful location of your business? How about opening or buying 5 more in the next 3 years?
Most people get comfortable at a certain stage because they don’t want to deal with the emotional purging involved in leveling up. When you decide to go bigger, your life becomes very difficult for a short period of time...
...and that's where purpose and contentment cease being at odds with one another and start working together in harmony.
That's when you become FREE.
Have a great weekend,
